It's pretty frustrating. I was self employed when covid hit, I had to stay home for 3 months to care for my child. Confirmed eligibility with the CRA or Service Canada at the time. As usual, I submitted my tax documents and the CRA accepted my return.
Now the CRA is attempting to claw back ALL the money I received via CERB. They want me to prove that the loss of income I experienced was unavoidable but I have no real way to go about that and they haven't given clear instructions on how to do so. They know I had a young child at the time obviously, and that schools were closed. It was necessary that he needed care. How do I 'prove' that I had to stay home with him?
To their credit, they haven't seized my benefits yet, just my 2022 tax return. But I've been waiting for them to review my eligibility for MONTHS now.

I've called multiple times since I requested a review, they said they're working through a backlog and have asked for my patience. It's not a dire matter on my end, I just would prefer to know what sort of evidence they expect me to produce so I can work on it.
