Women who solo camp/hike: What things do you do to keep yourself safe? How far from civilization are you comfortable going?
Post Body

I’m accustomed to traveling alone, but usually stay in a hotel. I’ve done a decent amount of camping in the past, but usually in a group or as part of a couple, and none of that applies to my life right now.

I’d like to camp alone, but I’m dealing with some personal trauma-based fear and probably being overly paranoid, which has so far prevented me from striking out on my own.

So I’d love to hear about your precautions for solo camping and wilderness time.

Thanks!
