Totally new camper’s here and this last week we stayed in some campgrounds in northern michigan. The trip was a success and we had a lot of fun exploring some state land and national forest. I’ve stayed at campgrounds a few times before when I was in my mid teens (31 now, yikes) but I honestly could not believe the amount of small children at the 3 campsites we were at. Every campsite near us had children under the age of 8. I’m not talking well behaved children either. This family arrives at 10:00 PM and has to set up their whole campsite while their children run rampant in the campground yelling and screaming like maniacs. The kids also woke me and my GF up at 2:30 in the morning due to crying /screaming. All 3 different campsites we visited last week we had very similar experiences in. I’m not trying to come off as a asshole because I very rarely complain but To me the whole camping environment was ruined because of screaming, crying, yelling. I know people that take their children with them have no intentions of making a ruckus at the campground but man was it hard sometimes. Is this more common then not? We watched a dad literally go to his car by himself and just breakdown because his kids were being so bad (kudus for him going to the car he was angry) does anyone else feel like this? If so what do you do to get away more? Private land? backwoods camp? Are there children free campsites? With our experience last night I would be better off popping a tent up in my backyard…at least the neighborhood kids sleep! Any recommendations? Insight? Maybe I should just stop being a little bitch? IDK
