So I have been rereading the PJO series after nearly a decade and I started wondering about how Golden Drachmas even work as a currency? Is there an official body which produces them every year? Is it affected by inflation? How does camp-halfblood even get access to them? Is there a proper circulation of it?

It seems one of the main uses is it send iris-messages, so does Iris ever spend enough golden drachmas to ensure that the money goes back in circulation? Or is she like a billionaire with ever expanding wealth which might eventually lead to economic collapse?

Or are we just supposed to suspend our disbelief and just go with the flow? (Which I can understand. Its a fantasy series after all.)
