How did you guys get started with growing out your nails?

I can’t seem to stop, I subconsciously chew on my fingers and nails when I’m doing basically anything, it gets so much worse with any stress. Thanks in advance and sorry if it’s a repost!
EDIT: will try gel or acrylic nails, thanks for your help everyone!
