Store my nails in my mouth
Post Body

Okay, so I've bitten my nails this way as long as I can remember, and I was wondering if anyone was similar. I bite my nails, which is common as I'm sure we all know, but it doesn't end there for me. I keep my nails in my mouth and order them from biggest to smallest. I keep them on the right side of my upper gums. I used to keep the same set of nails and add to them forever, only taking them out whenever I expected to go to the dentist (in which case I would set them aside and come back to them later) or if the stack got too big to the point of irritation. I'm not diagnosed with OCD or anything, there are no superstitions associated with keeping them (at least not now, I don't remember much about it from when I was much younger), and I tend to do other oral fixation-related activities like chewing gum/ I used to vape.

Nowadays, I don't do it as compulsively, it's only so often, and I don't really put them back once they're out of my mouth. Am I just a lone weirdo? In that case, take solace in the fact that while you may be a nail-biter, at least you're not as weird as me. ;)

Comments

I used to do that a lot esp after a long session bc i would rip every individual nail into layers like string cheese and it took some time so meanwhile i did the hamster pouch thing.

a word of warning, i already have bad dental genes so it showed up faster than normal for me but i also favored one side and that side got a lot more cavities a lot faster. can’t say for sure it was related but it sure seemed related.
