Edit: Can't think of flair as I'm asking for a suggestion of software.
Greetings!
I'm a student doing masters in Solar Energy. I have a dish of octagonal shape tracking the sun. In my simulation-based project, hundreds of such dishes are to be installed in a field.
I'd like a suggestion of software which can analyze shadow falling on a dish due to the adjacent dish. Please refer to this gif : https://imgur.com/a/OVKlqOZ
Pink indicates shadowed area, and green is the shadow-free area.
The above model is from PTC Creo. The software can tell me in exact square meters how much area is under the shadow. But I have to change angles for different sun positions. On the other side, I've heard Solidworks has plugins to perform shadow analysis, but only sun position changes and the model does not change as per its time. Is that true?
Anyway, What I want to find is for, different spacings between the dishes, what will be the area under shadow?
I can do this for one specific location in 30 mins or so. But if I have to do it for 30 different locations, all with different angular values, I'll have a tough time.
So just wondering if there is a specific software for such shadow analysis.
