Hello!
Our panelled dishwasher was leaking and it has created quite a buckle in the panel front. I am wondering if anyone would know how to go about repairing this, or should we just replace it? All leaks have been repaired now!
Sorry for the drunken rant last night... It was more me being pissed at a client than anything you said...
Yeah, I totally understand wanting to fix things instead of throwing away... Unfortunately standard MDF like you have there isn't something that can be fixed once it gets water damage. There is water resistant MDF like Medex, but in general I always recommend solid wood because it develops a patina and is almost always reparable.
Does the dishwasher still work? Do you have kids? A spouse? An aging parent? Go interact with them.
It's a bulge in a wood panel. It will be ok. There are infinitely more important things to worry about.
I know you are going to keep worrying about this and you just can't properly enjoy your kitchen til this is fixed, and this mindset keeps me people like me making money, but please just stop and think of the bigger picture for a moment.
I can build perfect fucking cabinetry with immaculate finishes and I fucking hate it. I work in shiny fucking Manhattan skyscrapers with miserable fucks who haven't touched real earth in ages.
I would never pick a high gloss painted finish for anything I build for my own family. Everything I build for people I love is rustic and durable and builds a nice patina with use.
