Got my hands on an old friend. Best way to get her working again?
Post Body

Hello! I just recently went into my parents basement and found my family's old Commadore 64, wrapped in plastic, styrofoam inserts, and boxed (all in good condition).

This was the first computer I ever had. This was the computer I first learned to program on (when I was about 8/9yo). It's been in the basement for almost thirty years at this point. As far as I recall, it went into "retirement" still in working order, and everything seems to be in good condition even after all this time...

... but, I am more familiar with modern computer hardware. I spent most of my time when I was younger programming, and know very little about working on and evaluating the hardware of this time period. So, I have a few noob questions...

I'm not an electronics guy, so I can't really build anything myself. I've read that the original PSU's are very risky, so I'm loath to even plug my C64 in right now to even see if it turns on. I live in the eastern US. Any suggestions for where to get a decent modern PSU? I've heard of Ray Carlsen, and I've also seen this PSU, as well as other options on ebay.

Also, with a new PSU and assuming the computer powers on, what's a good (simple?) way to connect the C64 to a modern TV without the need to splice together my own cable? I have the original RF cable that came with the machine.

Any other suggestions? Things to look out for?

EDIT: I ended up getting a PSU from Ray Carlsen, and... She lives once more!!! Still need to find my 1541 drive, though... and get some modern extras, but there's one more officially working C64 in the world!
