Did Constantinople ever compile a “doomsday book” or other similar census-like compilations?
Post Body

If anyone in Europe had done something like William the Conqueror’s Doomsday Book, it would have to be the Romans. But I don’t remember medieval Rome doing censuses. I do seem to remember classical Rome doing them. Anyone know if medieval Rome had such records?
