Hello! I've been working as a business analyst in IT for almost five years now. I honestly feel like I haven't learned a lot of tangible skills.
A lot of time I feel like I'm floundering and not really creating much clarity while analyzing legacy systems with little relevant documentation. I've inherited one system which our users swear up and down was functioning well when they were in direct contact with the previous dev team. So as I'm trying to understand how this system is functioning, I'm also dealing with this sense that I'm losing their confidence/trust.
I also find myself battling a dev team that consistently makes decisions that don't exactly follow our requirements.
For anyone that's been doing this a while, what should I do?
Is business analysis really just a constant battle with ambiguity and uncertainty?
How do I better handle my own uncertainty and honestly lack of confidence in information that is given to me?
