Well, I work for a non-profit organization and raises are pretty much unheard of. I've asked about the possibility of a raise, not just for myself, but for employees in general, but the answer is always a lack of funds. The company definitely has more issues than simply having low pay for employees, as beddings for clients have to literally become unusable before any kind of replacement is made, and that applies to all resources, from office equipment to client necessities.
Well, the purpose of this post isn't to gripe about the poor business practices of this particular place of business. I come asking about what options are available for a non-profit organization involved in substance abuse to compensate its employees. I found this at a company's (not mine) website for a job offer. If you look where it says compensation, it lists a base salary per hour -plus- an additional amount per hour listed as "health and welfare". I'd like to know what that is as well as how a company would go about doing it.
