I built a "business within a business" for my former employer which results in orders generating 2-300 units for a product that retails for roughly $250k each. The company decided to discontinue the product and fold that new business unit, which caused me to leave the company. Now I am in a somewhat different industry, but still have those leads and the clients whose orders were cancelled are asking me to provide them with alternatives even though I am no longer employed by the first company. I am aware of companies that can provide these clients with a similar product, is it unethical to connect the two, and request a finders fee from the company who is receiving the lead?
