I was splattered with hot oil and suffered a second degree partial thickness burn in my forearm . Based on what I was told, I should not expose the new skin (color pink skin) to UV/sunlight in order to avoid hyperpigmentation. So that the new skin will mature more or less close to my normal skin color.
Based on your experience on your healing journey, how long do I have to keep it covered? I live in a tropical place so wearing long sleeves is not ideal. Do I have to wait until it comes back to the original color until I stop wearing long sleeves (I read that it can takes years)?
My personal experience, I got a UV shirt and wore that for six months then I wore a good sunscreen with helioplex in it. I’ve healed wonderfully and have no hyperpigmentation there.
