Absolutely first our shout outs to the Facebook bike recovery group. I could not have done this without them or some posters on Reddit. They gave me clues.
There are good people out there. People spotted my bike and I even got a few pictures.
Those scraps of information were enough to go on to predict where my bike would be, and when. So I showed up and simply took my bike back. No violence nobody got hurt.
So it is possible. I did learn lessons, and I’m happy to share how I did this if it’s at all relevant or helpful to anybody else.
I learn to keep your bike inside register the serial number get insurance through your car company or some thing for renters or house insurance to cover stuff like this plus register with the lock company if that applies.
Freaking out did not help me. I realize that.
I just wanted to update and say there may be hope and there are people willing to help each other out in a very organized community response that I think is pretty unique and highly effective. I’m committing to helping them however I can.
I am fascinated with community response to stress, such as during the pandemic when everyone was making masks. I see this is a direct response to the lack of police availability for categories of crime that are mandated to have no response.
I don’t want to argue about the politics myself I’m just pointing out that this community of bike recovery gurus would not exist if there was a need
I am eternally grateful to anyone that helped me or tried . This bike means a lot more to me than money. Money I don’t really have for a new E bike.
In a strange way this feels like when you let go of love that’s when it returns if it’s meant to be. Maybe it’s a direct manifestation.
In any case, I had to build tools to figure all this out, all I needed were the scraps of information people were feeding me.
I appreciate the community and there are enough positive posts here, so hey, my nightmare, switched back to a dreamy life of paddle assisted cruises through the cemetery at midnight when I’m having trouble sleeping and other ventures around the construction in Winooski, as if it were the wastelands
I appreciate my bike so much more now I cannot wait to modify it for further range and enjoy the waterfront.
I hope this never happens to anybody else, but that Facebook group helped out the most and immediately so I highly suggest going there first if this does happen.
In the end, some criminals are so predictable f five data points were enough to estimate the time and place of where it would be and I didn’t believe it. It’s just an algorithm, but I had faith went down and I got my bike back.
Thank you very much for any support and again I apologize for venting my frustrations out online not cool and I’ll check myself in the future leaving everything up so it’s not gaslighting and for accountability because I make mistakes
