Concern About Bupropion-Induced Mania: Is This Normal?

Post Body

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started taking bupropion (Wellbutrin) for depression, (Again) and while it’s helping with my energy and mood, I’ve noticed some concerning changes. Over the past week, I’ve been experiencing what feels like manic or hypomanic symptoms:

Racing thoughts

Insomnia (can't sleep without sleep-aid)

ideas that seem brilliant at the time but questionable later

Overwhelming bursts of energy

Hyper vigilant

Hypersexuality

I have a history of mood swings and I'm actually on (mood stabilizer). I’m worried that this medication might be triggering mania or hypomania.

Have any of you experienced this with bupropion? How did you handle it? Does all antidepressants induce mania for bipolar disorder, if so what's the solution for bipolar depression?

I’d love to hear your thoughts or advice. Thanks in advance!
