Chest pain on Wellbutrin? Caffeine? Marijuana? Stress?

Hi all,

Not really seeking medical advice, just wondering if anyone else has this experience and if you were able to find your triggers and eliminate them.

Around the birth of my first child (5 years ago now), I started to have chest pains (30y.o at the time). I went to the doctor, did a bunch of tests- and they concluded that nothing was wrong except my diet was bad and that I should quit smoking pot. One doctor thought it was Angina, another thought it was anxiety and stress, another thought it was chronic inflamation- but none of them concluded anything definitive and none of them could find anything wrong. EKG, Cat Scans, Nuclear Stress Tests, sleep tests, etc.

Around the birth of my second child (3 years ago now), I fell into post partum depression.

Around 2 years ago I started exercising and attempting to lose weight. I dropped about 50 pounds, from 250 to 200, and my chest pain seemingly went away for a solid 6 months. I thought that it was just related to an unhealthy lifestyle at the time. I continued heavily smoking pot throughout this time, but fell into an even deeper depression. The diet/exercise has since been stopped as life is taking over (two small kids, full time job, etc- you get the idea). I've also concluded that physically smoking was causing chest pain, so I have cut that out in favor of edibles as of this year.

Around 18 months ago, the doctors put me on Bupropion. Today, I take 150mg xr Buspirone (up to 15mg twice/daily now). Mentally I'm in a much better spot and I feel like the postpartum depression is over... maybe it is, but if I stop taking the wellbutrin, maybe it's not?

The chest pain- however, is back... it's subtle. It's light. It's never really intense where I feel like I need to go to the ER, but it occurs nearly daily, and it has me a bit terrified if I'm honest. It feels a bit different than the pain I was experiencing before. It almost feels as if my chest is tight and my muscles are aching. If I physically smoke, I do get a more intense chest pain. I've noticed that when I take edible marijuana, the pain starts to appear and is more intense with higher doses, and it's to the point where I'm starting to give up marijuana altogether. Drinking can also cause the pain, but more so late at night and into the next day (during the hangover period).

I also drink quite a lot of coffee- about 24-36oz of coldbrew per day. Perhaps the coffee is causing the pain? Not sure, but a cardiologist told me that coffee was perfectly fine to consume and wouldn't hurt my cardiovascular system in any way.

I've also recently discovered that Wellbutrin can cause chest pain.

Maybe it's heartburn? What does heartburn even feel like anyways? I've always had digestive issues, lactose intolerance, etc- so could possibly be related.

I'm more so thinking it's stress related- sometimes when my kids throw a tantrum I get a panicky anxiety feeling, that never really goes away until I sleep.

So- here I am reaching out to you guys... wondering if anyone else has experienced chest pain and tightness in their 30s while on Wellbutrin? Did you find that the Wellbutrin was a trigger for it? Perhaps it's too much caffeine in my system? Maybe too much marijuana in my system is causing it (3 days sober now)? Maybe it's just a consequence of me being a fat ass.

Were you ever able to find your triggers and eliminate them?
