Hey there,
Long story short, I have Major Depressive Disorder with Melancholic Features and I've been on probably every SSRI I can think of. The tradeoff between being so cripplingly depressed that it required hospitalization or having pretty much no emotions on SSRIs has made me hesitant to seek out help. I've been doing talk therapy for some time, but it still hasn't gotten me completely where I'd like to be. My Psychiatrist acknowledged my desire to not go on SSRIs for what she called understandable reasons, but she nonetheless encourages me to get on some kind of medication. She suggested I mull over the idea of Wellbutrin(hasn't specified fast or slow release) and to give her my thoughts.
I'd like to do something because I am convinced that my depression has slowly progressed over time. But everytime I switched to a new SSRI, it was the same old story; Emotionally blunt, no libido, excessive sleepiness, headaches and on the list goes. I know Wellbutrin isn't an SSRI, so I'm considering it.
Anyone here have similar experience with SSRIs and then getting on Wellbutrin? How has your experience been?
Thanks!
