October 13th will mark 1 year since my first bunion surgery. The right foot feels great, looks good, I cannot lie. But the topic of this vent is not on my right foot. Rather, my left. To start. Itās been a long ass year. January I finished physical therapy. February and March were greatā¦April came, and suddenly I had a screw poking visibly up at the top of my foot, so May, I had my hardware removed, problem solved right? Wrong. June comes along, I go back because at this rate all I want to do is to go back to work! So I get prescribed for some custom orthotics to be made. Great. Wonderful. Except I have to wait 4-6 weeks for them to be made. Fine. 6 weeks later I get my orthotics, and they are wonderful. I get told that they will last me 3-5 yearsā¦.great, amazing!ā¦.I wore them out in 4 weeks and I suffered most of the last week. The orthotist is both impressed and shocked to say the least. Tells me āwow, the condition of your orthotics is usually what I see after 3 years of wear/use, this isnāt supposed to happenā¦ā so he orders me another pairā¦tells me itāll be 1-2 weeks.. we are on week 3 now, I went to the chiropractor in search of help, because every day now is my entire left side aching, grinding, cracking, and soreness. He does some X-rays, come to find out, my hips are uneven, my spine is bent, my knee is bent inwards. And this is on top of the obvious fact that my left ankle is also bent inwards, and my left foot sits like one of them toothpick and marshmallow cubes that a kid built in the 6th grade, kinda smushed looking and bending inwards as wellā¦the chiropractor treatments arenāt helping and are kinda making it worse, (just the feeling of my bones popping back to the way they were is gross, on top of the return of the pre-existing pain and grinding). And quite frankly, Iām not hopeful that the next pair of orthotics are going to last any longer than the first pairā¦and now Iām just frustrated and tiredā¦and everything is just too much damn work because everything grinds and it feels like Iām walking with a flat tireā¦.and everything is physically exhausting now with all of these problemsā¦.even sleeping isnāt all that great either. I have jokingly planned my imaginary funeral in which everyone must dress in western attire including cowboy hats, and the ceremonial music must be sung by Kermit the frogā¦. (Side note, no, I do not wish to quite literally die, I donāt feel suicidal, I have a will to live, itās just the sensations this body is giving me is very physically draining, and people always comment now that I look tired at work, and I very much amā¦)ā¦the only slight relief I get is from using a cane at work to lean onā¦my co-worker said I should āspruce it upā so it looks coolerā¦but at this rate I decided to splurge and get a black cane made of oak that has a hand carved crow in the handleā¦very cool, very edgyā¦.Iām not sure how to end this postā¦or really where to go nextā¦., as it is almost 1am as Iām writing this, and I am once again, very tiredā¦.. if you made it this farā¦.thanks for reading? Hopefully this is in decent English.
