Big cats in downtown Durham?
Post Body

Sunday night around 3am I woke up to what sounded like a big cat (you know, like a loud rawwwr sound) followed by what was unmistakably a dog (or canine) getting attacked and most likely, by the sound of it, killed.

Now, maybe it was just a feral cat of some sort, but the sound it made was big and loud. And I don’t know what feral cat could attack and make a dog react the way it sounded like it did. And maybe it was a coyote being attacked? I don’t know, but the next day I mentioned it to my neighbor who showed me some large-ish prints in his garden that look a lot like a big cat of some kind.

So anyway, when I heard all that commotion, my mind went straight to bobcat killing a dog. Do what you will with that info, but we’re not going to be leaving our puppy in the yard after dark unattended. Ruffin and Knox, by the way.
