Have ryzen 5600x in hand. Want to have a build ready for when I can get a rtx 3080
Post Body

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • Main PC. Mostly gaming, but maybe some game development/coding as well.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • I don't have a hard budget. My last pc is ~6 years old so I know this thing will last a long time. I don't need literal best parts for everything. Mostly interested in good value (i.e. 3080 better value than 3090 even though 3090 better). I could spend up to 3k or more if neccessary.

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • Planning on ordering everything except graphics card asap.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • I have a ryzen 5 5600x that I can buy from my roommate at msrp. I have a r9 3900 graphics card from my old pc. I want a rtx 3080. I want this new pc to temporarily use the 3900 until I can get a 3080. Then I'll swap it in. If that is possible, then that would be really sweet.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • NorCal, no microcenter store close

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • I'd like to temporarily reuse my amd r9 3900 graphics card. Don't want to reuse anything permanently because I want to be able to still use the old pc.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • Only if I'm missing out on huge gains. From my understanding overclocking isn't as important these days. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

  • SSD 1tb, at least 32gb ram

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • No preferences. Just a solid case with good airflow.

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

  • I'll figure windows out and don't have a hard budget.

Extra info or particulars: This build being purchased today hinges on being able to reuse amd r9 3900. If this is not possible then I'll probably wait to buy all this stuff until I have a rtx 3080 in my hands.
