Trying to help my nephew upgrade.
Post Body

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • 1080p Gaming. Rust, CS:GO, Doom: Eternal, and as many new games as possible on the highest settings possible. Would eventually like to upgrade monitor for higher resolution (1440p) and refresh rate.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • ~$900 USD.

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • Ready to order now.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • MOBO, RAM, CPU, GPU.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • Southern Illinois, USA. Closest Microcenter is ~2 hours away.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • Probably not. I still haven't learned anything about OCing lol.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

  • An SSD would be nice, but it can wait.

What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.

  • Wired and/or WiFi. No special needs.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • No, all we care about is functionality.

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

  • No.

Extra info or particulars:

The main goal of upgrading is to enable him to smoothly play games that his current rig is unable to. I know the market is a little crazy right now, so we are not opposed to putting off upgrades until the future, but given his current monitor limitations (1080p @ 60Hz), I figured we might be able to do something for him now.

Should we reuse the MOBO and stick with DDR3 RAM? Should we make an SSD a higher priority? Should we try to go to China and find an RTX 3090 that fell off a truck? Any help or advice is appreciated!
