Iracing/Oculus Rift build or upgrade. $1000 to $2000
Post Body

Iracing/Oculus Rift setup or mod to current rig, USD $1000 to $2000. Rewards offered

Willing to PayPal $5 or even send some private pics/requests! (see my post history, could be fun!)

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • Iracing with the Oculus Rift, using the Rift for sound and a buttkicker attached to my seat.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • I'm willing to spend between $1000 and $2000

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • Within the next week or 2

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • Just the tower, or even just adding parts to my existing setup

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • I live in Chicago, IL. There are microcenters here, but I'd probably buy online given the current world...

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • I'll use my current monitor, Rift, keyboard, and mouse. I would also like to either upgrade my current setup or pull parts from my current setup if it makes sense. For example, the SSD and Windows 10 can hopefully be reused. See current build below:
  • CASE: Raidmax Hybodus mATX Gaming Case
    CPU: Intel(R) Coreโ„ข Processor i5-6600K 3.50GHz 6MB Intel Smart Cache
    LGA1151 (Skylake)
FAN: Asetek 550LC 120mm Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ Copper Cold Plate - Extreme Cooling Performance (Single Standard 120MM Fan)
    HDD: 480GB Intel 540s Series SATA-III 6.0Gb/s SSD - 560MB/s Read & 480MB/s Write (Single Drive)
MEMORY: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4/2800MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG Z1)
    MOTHERBOARD: ASRock H110M-ITX/AC 802.11ac WiFi BT, GbLAN, w/ USB 3 4X SATA 6GB/s 1 Gen3 PCIe x16
    NETWORK: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network
OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit Edition)
    OVERCLOCK: No Overclocking
POWERSUPPLY: 600 Watts - Standard 80 Plus Certified Power Supply - SLI/CrossFireX Ready
SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
    VIDEO: GeForce(R) GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 (Pascal)[VR Ready] (Single Card)

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • I honestly don't know much about it, so happy to take your advice

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc).

  • I definitely want an SSD to the computer boots quickly. I also want fast WiFi to avoid lag. I don't need a lot of storage, I will literally only use this for Iracing so I don't need much storage.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • No case preferences. Floor space is not an issue. I think maximum cooling and reliability is the most important. It doesn't need to be sexy, I'll bring that lol

Extra info or particulars:

  • I'm currently getting 45-90FPS with medium to high detail with the Rift. I'd like to get 90 consistently on all tracks with a lot of cars and the highest most detailed settings. Some tracks like Tsubuka never get above 45FPS. I'm not sure if my current setup is limited by CPU, memory or graphics card or all of the above. I'm open to a completely new build, or using parts from this build in a new build or just updating my current setup. If I do update my current setup, I have no idea which parts need upgrading or which new parts are compatible with my current setup. For example, if I put in a new video card, is it compatible with my current motherboard and power supply? This is why I'm here, I trust you all to tell me the best way forward!
