What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- Working in Microsoft Office, Slack, and browsing/streaming videos (1080p) in Chrome (many tabs), Discord, etc., typically running all at the same time.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
- $450-475 so that the total cost doesn't exceed $500.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
- Sometime in the near-ish future. Just looking to get a build finalized for this budget that I can get later when I've saved up enough money for it (recent college grad working two part-time jobs, one of which I just started).
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
- Everything needed for a PC from scratch. I honestly have no clue here and don't want to accidentally leave stuff out that I would need. Off of the top of my head: a case/tower, Windows 10, monitor, keyboard, mouse, motherboard, speakers, CPU and GPU, an SSD and either 500 GB or 1TB HDD, 16 GB RAM, fans/cooling stuff, and a thing for WI-FI (will try to use an Ethernet cord at some point). Please include anything else that I may have missed or otherwise not considered.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- Illinois, USA. Not going to the Microcenter in Chicago since it's too far away. I was expecting to buy everything on Amazon, a reputable website, or the local Best Buy.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- N/A
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- No, but maybe down the line. CPU and GPU.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- SSD and HDD, 16GB RAM, etc. I just want a fast PC that doesn't overheat, crash, or suddenly get super slow from doing everything at once.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- Nothing too huge and preferably black in color. I'm focused on function over form, but nothing too crazy/bulky/huge form-wise.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
- Yes, Windows 10.
Extra info or particulars:
- Strict budget now, but could change later. Also open to comparisons for $300, $500 (what I'm asking for originally), and $700. I'm also worried about overheating/heat in general and noise.
