[Question] Building today - just need help selecting a monitor

Post Body

Hello again everyone!

I am so excited to finally be building my first PC tonight! I wanted to thank /u/LoneKrafayis and /u/PinguM3mes for their help - all of the information was great to have since I had no idea what I was doing. I also am grateful to this sub as well as all the people in /r/buildapcsales because their comments have been critical in teaching me what to look for. The members in my Discord server, particularly the mod team at /r/GiftofGames have also been very patient and informative whenever I had countless questions about each PC component.

This was my original post here - I deviated slightly from the budget for my final build. Here is my pcpartpicker list. I removed the monitor because I will be asking about that shortly. I also purchased a Roccat Vulcan keyboard (which doesn't show on pcpartpicker for some reason) and this giant mousepad.

Build Help Request: Monitor

I've been debating for a while over which monitor to get - I have accepted that the current tech doesn't permit me to get everything I want (especially 4k tech), and that has made it even more challenging to select something. I appreciate any help and insight you can give me. Thanks!

I live in British Columbia, Canada. I have been lazy with purchasing - my components were obtained from either Amazon (CAD), Memory Express, or Canada Computers (even though I know I would have more options if I used my US PO Box). While I would ideally like to keep the price under $1000 CAD, obtainable without having to use the US PO Box, if I need to spend more to hit all of my checkboxes, then budget is not a problem. I also hope to make my purchase asap.

In order of importance, the elements I am looking for are:

  • Maximizing the output of my PC components - I assume I will be needing a 144hz IPS monitor. Input delay is not too much of a concern for me; and I do not mind overclocking the monitor. Gsync functionality to maximize the 2080ti? This is the most important as I do not want my PC to be bottlenecked by my monitor.

  • Curved display - I just love how the curved setup looks. I had my eye on this, but it is FreeSync and uses a VA Panel. I understand that 4k is very unfriendly to curved displays.

  • Size - I initially was adamant on getting a monitor no smaller than 32", however, I am willing to budge on this if it means I am hitting checkpoint #1.

  • Reliability - Ideally, I would like to have a competent brand that is well-reviewed. Like my PC build, I would prefer to not have to think about upgrading the monitor for as long as possible (or once 4k tech catches up).

Thanks again, this sub is great for getting a foundation on building.

Cheers, DJSF =)

EDIT: The monitors being added to my pcpartpicker list are just the ones I am considering.
