About $700 USD Build
Post Body

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • Gaming. A lot of the games I play are fairly lightweight Japanese indie/doujin games, but I occasionally partake in TF2, Gmod, etc. I have plans to play games like the Bioshock trilogy and the Borderlands games, too. I'm okay with modest settings, mainly focusing on getting 1080p and 60FPS. Also worth mentioning that I often alt tab to other programs like Skype or Chrome while I'm playing, and listen to music simultaneously.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • $700, but I might be able to afford to go a bit higher.

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • Was going to do it this past weekend but didn't have a part list ready in time. My dad will most likely be taking me and my brother to Fry's this upcoming weekend to get some parts, assuming plans don't change. (I'm only getting what parts I can from Fry's, I can order online if necessary.)

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • Aside from basic parts, I also need an optical drive, wireless adapter, and Windows.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • Washington, USA. No Microcenter here.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • I already have a Logitech Y-SZ49 keyboard (PS/2) and Logitech MX518 mouse (USB). I have a Dell 2407WFP monitor (1920x1200).

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • No.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

  • As stated before, I also need an optical drive and wireless adapter. 1TB hard drive is preferred. My dad recommended a SSD, but I'm not overly concerned about getting one, so I'm fine with one if it fits in my budget.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • Anything, as long as it can breathe in the 9x20x23in space in my desk. I don't really want a very fancy case, just as long as it works well and is at a good price. In the case of colors for components, orange or purple is fine, but I don't want this to affect the price of the build.

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

  • Yes, Windows 10. A copy of 7 or 8.1 for the free upgrade works, obviously.

Extra info or particulars:

  • I'd like the build to be upgrade-friendly if possible.

  • I feel like I might be missing something. Ask questions if necessary, of course.
