Gaming PC for between $600-700. To be built early next month, but some components may end up as gifts.
Post Body

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • Primarily gaming. The most intensive game I probably own currently is Dragon Age Inquisition. I'd like to be able to pull a good framerate on that game with medium settings. Otherwise I'd like to play most games on higher settings and newer ones on medium for about a year at least. The basic idea of this build is to set me up for upgrading in the future, most likely 2015's Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • This partially depends on a refund check coming early/mid January. BUt with possible room for christmas money and a relative possibly buying some components, I'd say around $650~$700.

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • I plan to buy early/mid January, but I am asking now because one relative has hinted at helping by either giving me money or a component or two for christmas.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)

  • I need the components for the tower. Case, motherboard, GPU, CPU and RAM. I have a HDD from another computer I can use, but I'd like an SSD for the OS, which I already have a copy of Windows 8.1 to use.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • US, no Microcenter, but a Fry's Electronics is in my area.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • I have an Insignia TV I plan on using as a monitor for a time, a Dell keyboard which will work for the time being, and a Gigabyte mouse that I use on my current laptop.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • I'm not 100% sure here. I don't fully know the benefits of overclocking or the process of doing so. But I'm interested in learning more about it.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

  • I'd like an SSD for the OS, the loading times are worth it.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • I'd like a case with a decent amount of room for larger graphics cards that I would hopefully be upgrading to in the future. As for color, a case that isn't jet black would be nice, like a grey color.

Do you need a copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference for one or the other?

  • I have a copy of Windows 8.1 available.

Extra info or particulars:

If possible I would like to have an intel CPU (i3 or i5) and an NVIDIA GPU, i've used both in the past and I do enjoy the benefits of GeForce experience. But if this isn't possible, I am open to alternatives.

Thanks to anyone who gives advice.
