-New build or upgrade?

I wanna get into pc gaming, but I seriously have no clue where to start. Some say it’s better to build your own than to get a prebuilt, but building your own seems to be way more than getting a prebuilt. I wanted to start off with a prebuilt just for now then work my way up to building my own. But I don’t even know what which prebuilt to get.

I was using pcpartpicker months ago just to estimate how much it would be. Which came out to about almost $1700. I seen cheaper builds on there. I’m mainly aiming for a white pc build.
