First PC build - Making a workstation/occasional gaming PC
Post Body

> What will you be with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.

  • This is going to be my primary workstation for my home office. I am starting an engineering business so I will be doing a lot of work projects in AutoCAD/Revit (or similar CAD software) and I will be utilizing programs like SKM Power Analysis for coordination studies. I have also picked up some drone work which will involve generating 3D models of jobsites and possibly doing some LiDAR work once I get the drone equipment for that. On the side I have a YouTube channel so video editing and gaming (open-world games mainly) will also take place.

> What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

  • Ideally something in the few thousand dollar range (Let's say $3k-$5k) but I am flexible. I am not sure what full builds typically cost but I know good parts aren't cheap so I can extend my budget if need be.

> When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: Beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

  • I am planning to start gathering parts next weekend. Possibly sooner depending on what recommendations come in.

> What exactly do you need included in the budget?

  • Just the tower build for the budget. I am going to grab (3) new monitors (2 horizontal and 1 vertical) so if anyone has any good recommendations for those it would be appreciated.

> Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're not in the US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

  • I am in Florida, USA.

> If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc.), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

  • All new setup.

> Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

  • I have no idea. I will leave this opinion up to you all who have built far more PC's than me.

> Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc.)

  • A decent amount of local storage would be great considering this will be my work setup. I am going to do a NAS setup eventually so it doesn't have to be crazy large.

> Are there any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, style, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

  • My office has a lot of wood accents as I like that "modern outdoors" look. I would like come color changing LED's in the case with a viewing window just case I like seeing all the parts.

> Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

  • This doesn't have to be in the budget.

> Extra info or particulars:

  • Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide on this!
