Asus strix z690 - SSD speed vs 8x lane for 3080-Ti?

Post Body
I have a z690 with intel i912600k, 32 ddr5 6000mhz, OS ssd is in the CPU lane --- therefore the 3080ti is on 8x PCI.
Two questions:
- After reading this article, I'm wondering if I should keep my OS drive where it's at on the CPU lane. All the data I've seen compares the speeds of the 3080 (non-ti) on the CPU lane vs the chipset lane, and there is negligible difference. How about for the 3080 ti, are there any tests out there on it?
- If I do want to move the OS drive to a chipset m.2 will the system boot? This is a noob question, but will the BIOS be able to see the Win11 drive after I physically switch slots and leave the CPU slot open?
Thanks for any help!
