All my life, I've had a crippling fear of doing something wrong or doing something in the wrong order, or not getting it right the first time around, so I beseech your valued guidance.

I will receive an unfinished build and will only have to add the two RAM sticks. Any possible hardware issues/failures notwithstanding, I have absolutely no idea on where to begin after that; I know there's something to be done in BIOS about AHCI and PCI-E and boot sequence and TRIM and whatnot, but I'm afraid I will just screw up the correct order of things if I didn't ask here for your help. This also goes for updating BIOS, updating motherboard drivers, installing ATI drivers, installing codecs and whatever else there is to install.

I opted against preinstalled Windows because of my stupid paranoia about data theft and keyloggers (had a baaad run-in with a Gmail keylogger). Also, the Windows 7 Professional 64bit I'm getting probably aren't SP1, so I will have to install and download SP1 at some point. Please advise at what point in the proper order of things this is advisable.
