What is your intended use for this build?

It should be able to play AAA titles on maximum settings with 60 FPS. I play first person shooters as well as round based (civ), RPGs and real-time strategy games (total war). Currently I am using three 1080p 144hz monitors But I am planning to upgrade to 1440p or 4k.

It should perform well in VR, which is the main reason for me to upgrade. Because the gpu is currently not part of my upgrade/Help request, this might be hard to judge.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

1200€ without GPU (the price in the pc partpicker list is inaccurate. )

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

Germany

Post a draft of your potential build here:

I am looking to upgrade my gaming PC. My current PC is nearly 6 years old and I decided it is time for a few new parts. Since I am still happy with my current build and the quality of the parts, I am planning to keep some of them. VR-performance and performance in games which need a lot of cpu speed and can utilize more cores, are the main reasons for the upgrade.

PSU, Cooler, M2 SSD and Case are old components or have already been bought (SSD). At the moment I am planning to keep them.

Everything else is still up for discussion.

When planning the build I started with considering options to upgrade my current cpu (i5 6600K). RAM motherboard and ssd were all chosen to work with the Ryzen 9 5900X. I am aware that I might have to update the Bios before the mainboard will work with the cpu. If could comment on how complicated this might get I would be very thankful.

The GPU is a placeholder. I would like to upgrade my current gtx 1080, but I am not willing to buy at current prices. I am trying my best to get a new gpu for MSRP, knowing that this might take quite a while and may not be possible at all in the near future. Either a rx 6800 xt or a rtx 3080 are my favorites. The first one I am am trying to buy through the weekly amd drops for the second one I am on the EVGA waitlist.

I am thankful for any suggestions or opinions. Does the whole package make sense? Are there any major problems with this build and what could or should I change? Is there any room for major performance improvements or reductions in cost? Maybe there are incompatibilities I did not notice. Maybe there are still low quality components in my build.

A big thank you to everyone who is willing to help!!!!!!!
