hey folks, so i'm looking for a drive that's going to be able to gather lots of information quickly to run virtual instruments, samplers, and open large mixing sessions. my interface is pcie 3x4 and i realize that a gen 3 and a gen 4 drive will both max out in the same spot in there, but where are the gains in random r / w (which tend to be slower and vary wildly) made? is there an advantage to buying a similarly priced gen 4 drive or will the non-sequential performances also max out around the same spot?
i'm ideally looking for 4tb of space, and a decent sustained write speed would be helpful also. slot is m.2 inside an eluktronics max 15.
thanks!
