Build Help:
Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)
Yes
What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
I use my PC for mostly gaming though currently while WFH I am currently using it all day for work too (software dev). Although not very often I'd also like it to perform reasonably in streaming and video editing scenarios as well.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
My monitor is 1440p 165Hz, I am used to cranking down settings to pump the framerate higher for my refresh rate but it would be nice to be able to scale these up for once. Mainly play fairly undemanding games (LoL, WoW, Valorant, CSGO) but I did just buy Cyberpunk and would like some more frames in that!
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
Current builds I've put together are around £1300-1400 minus a GPU. Happy to stretch a couple hundred pounds if it is worth it but I am assuming anything further is better spent on a more powerful graphics card.
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
UK
Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

Provide any additional details you wish below.
- Currently struggling to decide between the Intel and AMD builds above. I started with the 5600X, for £50 more it seemed like a no brainer to go for a 5800X, then I saw the 10850K performs even better for only a few £ more than that, it's a dangerous spiral to follow so I have settled with these two (unless I'm missing something).
- Gone for WiFi in the motherboard for convenience but it's definitely not necessary if there are better options without it.
- I'm leaning towards the AMD build mainly due to PCIE 4.0 as that seems to be the major differing factor, paired with a PCIE 4 SSD this sounds awesome but whether it's worth it or not I'm not sure.
- I chose the RAM based on what seems to be unanimous opinion on 3600MHz being the sweet spot for the Ryzens and just copied this over to the Intel build as I couldn't find a similar opinion for the Comet Lakes, if there is a more suitable speed for those I would definitely like to know
- I've been reading around Rocket Lake which is allegedly coming "soon", it doesn't appear worth waiting for but I could be wrong?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on these builds.
