Hello, and thank you in advance for reading and any help or tips appreciated. I am not exactly a relic of IT just old enough to know to ask for help so I dont destroy a now working computer.

Computer has 2 sticks of 2 GB ram and I'm guessing one went bad and that's why it wouldn't boot up? so I kept trying the ram in different spots till it fired up.

I tried finding a manual for the model and couldn't seem to find the right one to figure out how to determine the max speed or limit of ram or type of ram.

Computer doesn't have a graphics card in the pci lanes unless its integrated , a 500gb SATA , and the weird part is the CPU I wonder if it's a mistake or just a really old gen i7 2600 @ 3.40 ghz, operating system is windows 7

Also when it did boot up the message about the date and time being wrong. I tried to boot into the bios settings and it gave me a post code on the LEDs on the front of the tower.

I think that means the cmos went out and needs replaced, is it better to pop the one out and then look up a replacement or is their a generic one that alot of people use as a default?

The plan for the computer is to made into a small gaming rig to play things for me like resident evil 4, and minecraft and robolox for the niece and nephew I babysit.

The question is how do I get it there and make sure everything is compatible and will work?

I know currently the cmos needs replaced, the ram as well once I figure out what can be done.

Graphics cards are kinda foreign to me as I mostly game on console and the last PC game I played was diablo 2 lord of destruction.

Thank you again for any help tips or points on the right direction

Cheers
