Need some help understanding what is needed for a low level gaming build vs. what people are calling entry level.

Trying to build a pc for the wife and just want something that is going to be able to play lower end games like portal, among us, maybe even wow on budget build graphics.
Obviously I want it to last a while, I'm just not sure what to get cause even the entry level recommendations I look at seem overkill.
Any fingers pointed in the right direction would be amazing!
