So my friend is getting ready to move to the east coast and has something like 8 days left to get things organized. She's requested my help putting together a nice gaming/work PC and set a budget of $800 (I'm not including the $20 of shipping in that).
edit: Thanks ThoughtA for helping me reformat the parts list properly.
Looking for a mid-tower with a GeForce GTX 560 i5 2600k 8GB of RAM ideally. Everything else sort of fits around that (but I'd happily change my mind if someone can suggest something better in terms of price/performance). It should have 4 SODIMM slots and the case should ideally be nice-looking and not feel horribly cheap (and a side-window is a plus).
Here's what I have so far:
Alternative Case: RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black 500W PSU ($89)
Type | Item | Price |
---|---|---|
CPU | Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor | $219.99 @ Newegg |
Motherboard | ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Performance ATX LGA1155 Motherboard | $137.86 @ Newegg |
Memory | PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory | $54.99 @ Newegg |
Hard Drive | Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 1.5TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive | $54.99 @ Newegg |
Video Card | PNY GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card | $199.99 @ Newegg |
Case | TUNIQ IC-TQ3-US-BK ATX Mid Tower Case | $59.98 @ Newegg |
Power Supply | Antec 650W ATX12V Power Supply | $54.24 @ Mwave |
Total | ||
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.) | $782.04 |
Any changes you'd recommend?
UPDATE: Should I substitute the GPU for this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121446 (ASUS ENGTX560 DCII OC/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB, $200)
Will the performance be on par, and will the more elaborate cooling on it be of any help? Quieter is probably good.
