Help removing thermal paste

I bought a new cooler for my CPU and it slipped my mind to buy something to remove the old thermal paste. I thought about alcohol but it is sold out pretty much everywhere. Ive heard acetone would do the job if you are careful but i would rather avoid it. Are there any other choices?
