I'm looking to build a PC to set next to my TV to play movies and emulators, no high end fancy pants games. I suppose it'd be nice if it could handle things like WoW-era games. I need enough CPU to play back an mpeg4/divx/etc while encoding another -- that's about the most work this system will ever do. HDMI and S/PDIF outputs are a must, as is Gigabit ethernet and wireless ethernet. I'll have a big focus on storage, so the capacity for upgrading storage space must be there. My budget is roughly $400, but I think I might go a bit over.... Please tell me what you think :)
GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD $99.99
AMD Athlon II X3 445 Rana 3.1GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core $77.99
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal $69.99
Athena Power AP-MP4ATX40 400W ATX12V / MicroATX / SFX12V v 2.2 SLI $24.99
Total: $309.95
I'll pick up the case from a local computer store. Do I need a powersupply like this? Will most Micro ATX cases come with a PSU? Is 300W overkill?
Props if you can reduce the cost while maintaining the performance or options.
Bonus points if you can tell me what hardware I need so that the PC can pick up the RF signal from
Thanks to anyone who's interested or wants to assist :)
EDIT: Updated the build specs.
