2070s or 2080s for 1440p 144hz

Hi guys,

I built a computer last month, i7-9700k, 16gb ram and just used a left over gpu for now. Im ready to purchase my gpu and im not sure if the 2080s is "worth it" for 1440p? I dont plan on getting a 4k monitor for gaming, maybe for video editing down the line. I have a 32" curved 1440p 144hz monitor. Will a 2070s be too weak to max out my monitor? Would a 2080s be overkill?

If the 2080s will make a big difference then ill get that, but if the 2070s can max out my monitor then thats what i want too.

Any help is appreciated!!

Edit: choice is between 2070s asus rog for 624 after tax or 2080s msi gaming trio x for 804 after tax.
