Hey guys, I'm getting ready to build a new gaming PC and right now I'm looking at RAM and trying to get the best bang for my buck. I'll be using this motherboard, which says it supports ram speeds of DDR3 1066,1333, and you can OC at 2000, but it doesn't say if it supports the in-betweens (1600, 1800, etc) so I'm gonna play it safe and try to avoid those. Here's the contenders I'm looking at:
$120 Mushkin Enhanced Ridgeback 4gb
DDR3 2000, timed 7-10-8-27$130 Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 6gb
DDR3 1333, timed 8-8-8-24$110 Geil Evo Two 4gb
DDR3 1333, timed 6-6-6-??$110 Patriot Viper 4gb
DDR3 1333 timed 7-7-7-20
Would I notice a major difference between the DDR3 2000 vs the rest of the bunch? Is CAS latency the only important value in the timing specs? And what about capacity (6gb vs 4gb)?
Right now I like the idea of the 6gb mushkin package the best, but all of those are great fits for the build and i'm pretty comfortable with that price range. I'll say up to and including $145 is the ram budget, either from Amazon or Newegg (preferably with free super saver shipping on amazon). I'd also be interested to know if the board supports DDR3 1600 etc even though it's not listed in the spec.
