I am going to build my first PC in a couple of months and naturally I have a couple questions.
First off it's going to be used mainly for gaming and some rendering in blender and I'm not a total noob when it comes to screwing with computers since I've been upgrading and modifying Mac's for 20 years. (Don't ask.)
Here comes the questions.
I'm thinking of investing in a 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor and have read that freesync or gsync is the icing on the cake for these displays to get really smooth movement at all frame rates. Problem is displays with these features and gsync are pretty rare. Should I just ditch the sync feature and get a gtx 10X0 and some IPS display? Or get an AMD Vega 64 (PowerColor Red Devil @ 1417Mhz base is at 700€) and an IPS display with freesync?
As far as I understand the Vega is outclassed by the gtx 1080 in directx 11 but looks promising in directx 12. Is there an argument to be made that a Vega is the future proof choice, keeping in mind that rumoured release of gtx 11X0 cards in summer?
Thanks in advance!
