Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.
Computer has been built and in use for couple months. Every once in awhile, when powering on, there is no input to the monitor. Turning the monitor on/off and selecting different inputs does not work. (DVI is the original source).
When the computer does work (majority of the time), everything is fine. I can play games for hours, leave the computer on for hours. Just maybe 1 out of every 25 power ups, it does this. From what I can tell, the Windows error logs show that I have most likely rebooted it
Event 41, Task 63 The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
Another quirk with this PC is that once i log into windows, if I wait for about a minute or so, the monitor will flash black for half a second (like it's loaded the drivers, etc.). It only does this once logged into the system. Doesn't do it prior.
If i start a game (PUBG) prior to the flash above, the video card frame rates are VERY low 20-30 and I can clearly see laggy windows/animation. Sometimes the game won't even start because some DirectX drivers weren't loaded. Once i wait for the flash, it works fine.
List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.
Nvidia Video drivers have always been updated to the most latest versions. Windows 10 is kept up to date.
If the PC or monitor goes to sleep, but the keyboard/mouse wakes the PC up and i get no input, i try to manually select the "input" from the buttons on the monitor and switch back and forth from HDMI (not connected) to DVI (connected). Sometimes this works.
I think the main issue only comes up from a fresh power up.
So when i get no input from the monitor, I can see the PC LED lights and I believe it is working and may already be in Windows. My theory is that since I'm not getting any input into the monitor, I hold down the PC power button to manually cut the power, then turn it back on. This makes the PC work on the next power up, and I assume that is why I'm getting the event 41 Critical errors in Windows (probably from me powering off while it's in Windows and not doing a "clean shut down") -- correct me if I'm wrong here.
