[Help] Monitor knocking off after a bad resolution change in game

Post Body

Hey guys.

I just got a replacement TV (LG 4k LED 40") and also use an Acer Predator 27" 1440[p monitor.

Things were going fine, I use Windows 10's built in Display Switch command to switch between the monitors (the TV is used when gaming in bed).

I was playing Grid, and changed the resolution too high, past what the TV supported by mistake. Naturally the TV said "no signal" as it didn't support the resolution.

I couldn't manage to bring the picture back, so I hard rebooted the PC.

Now, whenever the TV is connected, it turns off my primary monitor and says "no signal" on the TV.

I can't switch back to my monitor when the TV is connected. I have to pull the HDMI out of the graphics card to get the Display port working again.

I've tried setting display switch to use duplicate mode, tried double clicking on my shortcut to switch back to the monitor... but nothing works when it's connected.

It seems to be given a really low resolution when I switch to it, as when I pull the HDMI and go back to my monitor, Chrome's window is large and squished.

What the heck can I do here? I just want the TV to work again with Windows. The TV itself is working, my Apple TV is still displaying fine.

Is there any way I can force windows to default to duplicate mode without having the TV plugged in? So I can then fix the resolution going to the TV?

I simply can't do jack, with my current predicament.

Thanks so much in advance.

EDIT: it was the HDMI cable
