Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

I built this in June 2014 2015 with a GTX 960 in it. Recently (last two weeks) replaced it with a GTX1060.
It has been running fine. I've been monitoring temps with MSI Afterburner, and the GPU hasn't gotten above 80C. I have never overclocked anything in this build.
Today, I turned on the computer to a blank screen and "DVI no signal" after the Windows 10 logo. After the steps I took below, the PSU popped a capacitor in a brilliant flash and smoke. I'm pissed.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

To try to fix the display issues:

  1. Checked all display connections. "DVI no signal" after Windows logo.
  2. Restarted computer. "DVI no signal" after Windows logo.
  3. Unplugged and switched off PSU. Waited a minute. Restarted. "DVI no signal" after Windows logo.
  4. Removed GPU and tried to boot with onboard graphics. No signal at all.
  5. Re-placed GPU, tried HDMI instead of DVI. No signal at all.
  6. Tried to boot to BIOS by both holding and mashing F2. Blank (not black) screen. Can't get to BIOS.

I forget what I tried next, but when I tried to turn on the computer my PSU exploded. :'(

Post relevant photos of build/parts here.

Provide any additional details you wish below.

I guess what my question is: are these problems directly related? If not, what else could be causing the problem? What are my next steps in troubleshooting?

I had intended to replace this computer at the end of January (build here if you're interested, I appreciate feedback in the comments) but I'm scared that I have fried components. How should I test them?
I am also apprehensive about getting another Corsair PSU, so can anyone recommend another? I'm gonna be a queen and say that it needs to be black and white... sorry.
