This build is already ordered and through surprisingly quick delivery I will be getting all the core parts today. This is my first build for myself for the first time in my life and this also marks the first time I have a PC that is current. I've been following this community for over a year and it definitely helped me become more familiar with different types of hardware, where they stand and their technological progression and for that I'm grateful to everyone here!
Here are some details on the deals I got: The MOBO has a $25 rebate that is already factored in above. The GPU came with a copy of Watchdogs 2 (about a $50 game). The SSD was on sale on Amazon for $89.99 and then I used a deal where they take $25 off if you use AMEX points and then used points to pay for the rest of it. For the case, keyboard, mouse, RAM and PSU I used the Newegg mobile app and the appropriate code to get another 5% off taking an additional $12.50 off bringing my after-rebate total to $934.35 which is FUCKING AWESOME for the hardware that I'm getting and the budget that I had originally ($1050), no worries though Steam already has most of that money and I will try really hard not to spend the rest of it during the Autumn Sale, I already got my AAA titles that I wanted and now I might just pick up some smaller sales and then save the rest for a good monitor. I picked up Titanfall 2, Civ VI, Witcher 3, Rainbow 6 Siege, The Division and most recent Hitman game. Also eyeing up some things on the Steam Autumn Sale such as Project Cars (VR in the future!), The Talos Principle, Doom and Dishonored, Sim City 4; also eyeing up Transport Fever on HumbleBundle.
I can't wait to run Civ V and Kerbal Space Program which I already have on the highest settings after YEARS of gaming on a 4 year old laptop on lowest settings. I already own Skyrim and some other games on Steam that I am not able to play on this laptop that I can wait to play on my own PC!
I have the parts pictured below so far and everything else is out for delivery today save for the headset, the KB and mouse and the SSD. I have a smaller SSD that I can use in the meantime to get it up and running and then I'll just clone it over to the new one when that gets here.
I will make another post with the assembly photos, have awesome holidays, everyone!
