Post Body

So a week ago I posted about my computer that after a thunderstorm, and a near by lightingstrike, wouldnt stay on. I would push the power button and power would turn on for a sec and then turn off.

I was planing another build anyways so I got a new PSU and when I plug in just the motherboard cable and a molex to a small fan controller that my case has built in i get power when I press the dedicated power button on my Mobo. And the fans stay on till I turn the power off. Even a fan I forgot to disconnect from the Mobo directly, powers on. So yay, things are working even through the Mobo.

However I then plugged in the CPU power cable and we are back at square one. The fans come to life for a sec and then power right back down.

If I unplug the CPU power cable. The fans will stay on again.

So, is something wrong with the CPU? Motherboard? Something else. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
