Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

yes

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

I want to build a computer dedicated to Plex and a bit of file storage. You can read more if you want over in my /r/buildpcfome [post] but the basic is i wanted to at minimum be able to do any on the fly plex transcoding for two steams at the same time. I am pretty sure i have also decided on using Unraid for this as well. But did see someone suggest open media vault so i am doing some last minute research there.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

N/A

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

Technically, 1000 is what i had set aside for a new computer before switching to building this plex server/nas. Though not sure i want to spend that much, before HDDs, on this. Which if you remove the 3 HDDs i haven't decided on yet i comes to around 600ish, which i am pretty comfortable spending.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

USA

Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

So the main things i am still lingering on are:

The aftermarket cooler. Needed or beneficial? It was included in the build originally provided to me on /r/buildapcforme and i thought about removing it when changing some other things but haven't yet. When looking up opinions about them, the sentiment was that for a non OC'd CPU it wasn't necessarily needed but might be quieter and run cooler. So toss up?

Then, for something i plan to be leaving on 24/7 should i go with a more efficient PSU (silver, gold, plat)? or will bronze be fine? When trying to find opinions on this i basically found .. "eh maybe?", So still not sure on it either.

And then less me lingering and more just me having not decided which one yet. The 3 HDD are included more as a remind on which ones i was looking at and likely don't plan to get all 3. i thought about removing them before posting but that seemed like a lot of effort. lol. Though if you have an opinion on them, or other HDD, feel free to chime in.

edit: oh also 16gb seemed like it might be overkill for this but looking when looking on PCpartpicker going with 8GB (2x4GB) didn't seem to save a whole lot of money (20ish dollars) so i didn't bother. Thoughts?
