Greetings!
Longstory short, I got, over 4 years ago, a Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 that has worked flawlessly until past february, when it broke (One fan died, hilarity ensued, and the card never show image again). It costed over 300€ (at least is its price now in the same shop), and I've been able to play almost everything I wanted without issue since then (besides lowering specs, usually only vertical sync and such, on games like Metro 2033 Redux).
So, I've been looking around, and it seems that the best (and newest) options are the Radeon RX and the GeForce 1060, being the 1060 the apparent winner for some extra bucks.
But...
Even though I'm an avid gamer, I'm not really into playing every single new game on mas specs. I don't really care about VR, nor about 4K (I have a full hd monitor, and that's ok). Graphic-wise, the biggest things I've played have been the Metro Series, some Saints Row (wow!) and right now The Witcher games (2 and 3) are waiting for some attention. Maybe the remake of Hard Reset, the newest Doom... but this in some years (Proud member of /r/patientgamers, lol). On the "work" side, I do some hobby game dev, but I'm parsecs away of needing something "huge" for it.
So, right now, I'm wondering if geetting something like the 1060 will be excessive for my profile. Someone suggested me a 970 (Which seems to be over 100€ cheaper), and I don't really wan to end up spending 100-150 extra euros on something I will not really use. (also, the difference in price is... minimum...)
What should I do? Going for the top notch card for some extra buck or just pass it and go for the best of the past batch of graphic cards?
