Looking at modems/routers to fix sketchy home wireless signal, but not sure of the best way to replace my ISP-provided box, or if buying new hardware is even the right choice.
Post Body

I've got this: https://www.amazon.com/Residential-Gateway-802-11n-GigaPort-TG862G-CT/dp/B00NR1EHP8

...via Comcast. My wireless signal is pretty poor in most of the house, even as far as two rooms over, with constantly rebuffering netflix and occasional dropped online games. I've taken to dragging a 50ft LAN cable to my TV when I know I'll be on netflix for a while.

That box is a combined modem and router, but from this morning's research, I can't really peg what would be wrong with it for my current setup.

It's tucked into a corner of a room at the far end of the house, which is obviously far from ideal, but the way the cable is installed it isn't possible to move it elsewhere.

My question is: should I get new hardware? Would I be required to also replace the modem, or can I get just a new wireless router to get a better signal? How would I handle getting my connection into the new router if so? And whatever hardware is recommended, what are good, price-efficient options?

Any help at all would be great. Thanks!
